My chair designs come from enquiry into purpose, form and structure. The chairs are strong against you tilting back on them, their backs are comfortably supportive, & you can tuck your legs back under the seat. The twenty or more wooden joints in each chair are made explicit wherever possible, and that takes time, but you can see how it's built.

That's how I make tables too. A wide component, like a chair seat or tabletop, is connected to its framing in a way that allows for differential movement - for wood is always responsive to humidity changes, its width across the grain changing much more than its length along it.

A dining chair to an existing design may be £620. A dining table might be £2,000.
