Art

The Museum of Modern Art Wales in Machynlleth has changing exhibitions mainly of paintings, of an overall quality well above the norm. There's an associated one-week music festival, also excellent, in August. The thrust and vision are to promote and share culture rather than to make a profit.

Gwendoline and Margaret Davies of Gregynog, Powys, grand-daughters of self-made Welsh industrialist David Davies, bequeathed a fine collection of art to the National Museums and Galleries of Wales.
